(birth of my blog)

Welcome to our home at Peaceful Acres. Our name comes from Haggai 2:9, “And in this place I will grant peace”, declares the Lord God Almighty. It’s not always peaceful, but it’s our goal. My name is Diane and I am a devoted follower of Christ, the wife of the most wonderful man on earth, and the privileged mother of two young adults. We reside in the rolling hills of Maryland and hope to retire soon to the Western mountains of North Carolina. We live as close to nature as possible; enjoying fresh and local foods that are nutrient dense. We grow what we can by using successive and sustainable farming practices. As an herbalist, we use plants for their medicinal, culinary and botanical properties. I knit, dye silk and custom design wearable art. My non-profit labor of love; Butterflies and Bumble Bees is a work in progress. See the page My Shop for details. I am also a retired homeschool mom of 15 years and am truly glad that those years are behind me as they were challenging with chronic health issues. I am recovering my body from 37 years of Chronic Lyme Disease and after only 3 years of a diagnosis, I am finally seeing the healing begin. It’s my hope that this blog will give others hope and the belief that there is life after Lyme! I am a living testimony to this glorious miracle!

I intend to offend no one…. I also make no apologies.

  1. Hey Diane!
    From a fellow Herbmentor member!
I really like your website! And Blog! Keep up the good work & may God bless you in helping the women in India!
I think it is very interesting that i found you on Herbmentor, because I have been in contact with a dear widow in South India for over a year now. She has I think 5 children, and many widows, and orphans that she has taken in to her small tenant (sp?) house and the women and girls make lace table cloths, cross bookmarks, doillies etc., lace articles as she calls them, that they make to sell for thier own income. They have sent me some lace articles and they are truly a work of art! i feel terrible though because the mail between here & there is terrible! many letters I send she never recieves & many things she has sent me have never arrived or were opened & things taken out! So, I have not sent her any money.
Okay sorry to drag you thru this but I was wondering since you help women over there already, what is a good way to go about sending them money and helping them out?
Also Would you be interested in getting some of her lace articlies and maybe try to sell them for her? I could send you some articlies or send her your address & she would be glad to send you some. I have sent her many addresses but so far no one seems to want to help her sell them. I am not in a poisition to help her & since you already help women in India & have a web site, thought that would be an answer to our prayers!
Look forward to your prayerful reply.
    God bless you & yours.

P.S. sorry so sloppy. Hope you can read this!

  2. So sweet to have you visit me Hannah! It’s so hard on the widows in India. They don’t have much worth there. Let’s pray and see what God does! You’ve put a new spark in me. My creative juices are at a low and I needed to be reminded why I do what I do! Thanks. It’s all for HIM! :)

  3. Yes! Fellow Knitter and Believer of our Wonderful Lord!

  4. Diane, thanks for the helpful info on Shandy’s page! I will check out the foods you mentioned. I appreciate your help!

    • Hi Pancit, Glad to see you here. After recovering my own body with food, I am a true believer. I keep going back to the Bible passage that lead me, “Listen, listen to me and eat what is good and your soul will delight in the richest of fare.” Is 55:2 (I know your one for quotes!)

  5. Hello I have a son in at YWAM, and he has been there since August 2007. His Name is Nathan and I recon your daughter knows him. I only came across your site, because I was googling information about Herrnhut and YWAM. I went to visit him in October 2007. What a wonderful experience. I so enjoyed reading about your precious daughter. Shalom!

  6. Is there a way to contact you about your journey to heal yourself from lyme and co? I have had lyme since my early teens or probably earlier now am 25 and just diagnosed. I am figuring a way to get well. Maybe you have some tips. Onions and garlic everyday really help. So is teasel but i cannot find it here.

    • Paul, I don’t counsel people on Lyme. My blog is just to tell you about myself and to tell you that there is life after Lyme. I’ve pretty much laid it all out. What I’ve done, what I’ve eaten and taken.. I don’t believe that there is a one size fits all for this disease. Continue to try different things and give them time all the while keeping a diary. One thing that I do believe in with all my being is the raw dairy. I encourage you to search for a source and to take Cod Liver Oil and raw butter, both being high vitamin. I do believe diet is key. If you wish to counsel, I’d recommend someone like Dr Ron Schmid, he does phone consultations. I do wish you wellness. It’s not easy but you can find it, I’m convinced.
      Diane
